Open Day

An Open Day has been organised at our Trent Vale Squash for Saturday 20^th June. All are welcome to attend. Also attending will be the juniors from the local primary schools (hopefully) in an attempt to get more youngsters involved in squash. Please bring along any friends who would be interested this event.

There will be two world ranked players coming along to have an exhibition match and then you can play a pro afterwards to have a taste of real squash !!!

After the main event has finished I will be leaving the court lights on until the last person leaves the club (hopefully before midnight !!!). So, bring your rackets and have a bit of fun afterwards.

Also, could you print off the flyer and pin it up at your work place and anywhere else you can think of !!!

 

Trent Vale Junior School

Trent Vale Junior School is currently using our courts every Friday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30. It would be good if we could get some members down to help out every now and again, in turns.

If anyone is a qualified coach or is just interested to help out, then please can they get in touch with me.

Summer League Squash

Does anyone want to play mixed summer league squash this summer? If so, can you let me know by the end of this week - 1 May. Any standard of player. We want to enter one or two teams.

Club Night:

We run a Club Night on the last Monday of each month, or there abouts. So pencil the following dates in your diary;

Monday 29^th June
Monday 27^th July
Monday 7^th September
Monday 28^th September.

Each session will start at about 5:30pm and will cost £2 per person. If anyone has any comments or ideas for the night then please contact any member of the committee or by email.

Tokens now available at County Stores!

We've had a lot of comments about the availability of tokens. So we've had a word with the local shop and they have agreed to sell them for us free of charge.

The shop is County Stores which is round the corner from the squash club (on the corner of Trent Road and Trafalgar Road).

The shop is open all day until 8pm so please take advantage of it. Hopefully it will be a win/win for us and the shop.

Social Night - Friday 27^th March 09

Hi all, plan for the 27^th March is to meet in Ha Ha Bar at 8 pm. Hope you can all still make it? I thought we could have a bit of a bar crawl so will come up with a route to hopefully suit all tastes!

Free squash coaching course (level 1) - available to Trent Vale members only

OK, so doing a squash coaching course won't help you to beat Fitz, but you it may help you to become a better player. Or you may find you enjoy passing on your considerable to squash skills to those less fortunate.

But whatever the motivation, does anyone want to take part in a two-day coaching course at the Park? It is free of charge as Broxtowe are paying for it. In return, they want us to let the local school kids use our courts after school on a Friday for an hour. Hopefully, some of our qualified coaches can then help out for an hour every now and then, but this is not a condition of doing the course.

Please let me know if you are interested ASAP as I am finalising dates now and have a few already confirmed.

Handicap and Knockout competitions

The 2009 Knockout and Handicap competitions are now under way.

First round should be completed by Sunday 26^th April.

Drinks raise £150

Thanks to everyone who has bought one of the energy drinks that are sitting under the stairs. We've managed to raise £150 for the club so far and we still have a few left. So please keep guzzling for the good of our funds. And thanks to Boots for donating!

Discount at EDGE:

In the Nottingham Tennis Centre on University Boulevard, there is a shop called EDGE which sells rackets and clothing. They also offer a racket restring service. The owner, Mark Ness, has given Trent Vale Squash a deal whereby all racket strings done by EDGE will be reduced by 25%. The cost of this offer is £50 per year for a club and this has been paid for by Trent Vale Squash Club.

So, all you have to do is take your racket to EDGE in the Nottingham Tennis Centre and show your TVSC membership card and some form of id to claim your 25% restring discount. But please don't put yourself nor the EDGE staff in an embarassing situation by saying your from TVSC but have not brought along your membership card and id !!!
